Hello Captain Butch,
I fished with you so many moons ago. 2003 I believe. I recently have had the interest for adding some rod holders to my bow just like you had on the Talon. That day in 2003 we fished North Captiva for reds and you put out two rods down the middle and two rods to the side in the rod holders. My question is what degree were those holders and is there anything else important to know about them?
I took everything you have taught me that day and have tried to run with it. I catch fish a lot these days and a lot of it is a credit to you. Especially the advice on casting long, being stealthy, and being at the right place at the right time. I enjoyed that day and if it weren't for 3 baby girls and a wife out of work I would be doing a trip with you atleast once a year. I still want to get over to that Buck Key area and try to figure it some year.
Anyways, it saddened me to see you sell the Talon and scale down to the kayaks but atleast you are still in the business of doing what you love. I enjoy your reports, especially your insight into what it takes to be successful and your analyzing is very helpful to those of us that try to learn every time we go out.
I have been up in the northern Sound much of this winter and spring and have had some great days. I got into the fish last Saturday late on the outgoing, catching close to 40. 2 of them went 27 inches. All on shrimp and cut lady fish. I could have used those rod holders. I had one of the rods stuck into the trolling motor mount. I couldn't keep up and was running back and forth for an hour. You understand Im sure.
I would appreciate any advice and thanks for being a great Captain over the year and for being a great teacher.
