Subject: Thanks for a great trip!
Thanks for the fine write up of our last trip. Reading that, I got to relive a great day. When you said that I was dumbfounded about that monster snook spooling me you were absolutely correct. I just kept staring at that empty reel thinking “that could not possibly happen that fast”. But it sure did and I will remember it forever! We hooked that fish on the flats and I have been trying to imagine hooking her near the mangroves and even trying to keep her out of them. I did a much better job this year of reeling to the fish the way the circle hooks demand and hooked most of what bit other than the obvious bait stealers (at least we made a few of those mangrove snappers pay for the sins of the others). You are so right, old habits are hard to break but you are an excellent coach who will keep pointing out what someone is doing wrong until they do it right. It only took about 1 1/2 previous trips to get it through my freshwater fishing thick skull but it felt very natural from the start this time.
I have fished with a number of guides but your knowledge, humor and teaching ability plus your ability to put people on fish are second to none. That set up at the second stop where I caught snook after snook would have made for a great day of catching even if nothing else had happened on the entire trip. You are a pleasure to share a boat with. I always look forward to it and will definitely be back to fish with you again. It is always a grand adventure!
